(L-R) Leslie Liao, Kaycee Conlee, and Ian Karmel

Sierra Madre Playhouse celebrates Lunar New Year, the Year of the Fire Horse, with an entertaining and mind-expanding multi-week series encompassing seven music, film, theater, dance, comedy, and author programs.

The festivities begin with an evening of hilarity, featuring three of comedy’s most distinctive voices: Kaycee Conlee, Leslie Liao, and Ian Karmel.

Liao delights audiences around the globe with her relatable, introspective, and matter-of-fact style of humor, which is often anchored in her experiences as a single Asian-American woman living in Los Angeles. Recently selected as one of “Variety’s Top 10 Comics to Watch” at Montreal’s prestigious Just For Laughs Comedy Festival, she is featured in the Netflix’s series Verified Stand-Up and has performed on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon. Conlee – a veteran of The Tonight Show and The Ellen DeGeneres Show noted for her brilliant wit, authenticity, dynamic stage presence, and infectious energy – hosts the program with her observational humor and personal storytelling. Karmel, an Emmy Award-winning stand-up comedian, actor, and writer, was named to The New York Times’ Best Comedy of 2025 list and served as head writer for the Emmy Award-winning The Late Late Show with James Corden. His stand-up has been featured on Conan, The Late Late Show, Comedy Central, and Netflix’s The Comedy Line Up, among others.
