“Whether through the courts or a direct claims process, Eaton Fire survivors deserve full and fair compensation for their suffering and losses,” Senator Pérez stated. “In creating this program, Southern California Edison is taking some responsibility for the community’s ongoing pain even as the exact cause of the Eaton Fire is being determined.”
The Eaton Fire, which swept through Altadena and parts of Pasadena and Sierra Madre, left a trail of destruction, displacing families and damaging homes and businesses. While investigations into the fire’s cause are still underway, the launch of Edison’s compensation program marks the first concrete step toward recovery for affected residents.
“The priority for me is ensuring my constituents, who are still struggling from this unimaginable tragedy, are treated fairly and given the opportunity to heal,” said Pérez. She urged survivors to carefully review the details of the compensation program and to seek professional legal counsel to make informed decisions.
“Full and fair compensation is critical to the recovery and rebuilding process,” she added. “Anything less would not be justice.”
The Wildfire Recovery Compensation Program is expected to begin accepting claims in the coming weeks. More information on eligibility and the application process will be made available by Southern California Edison.
