Off the back of 17 total hits, the Pasadena Lancers started their scoring in the second inning thanks to doubles by both Evan Nahra and Jack Esguerra. With these, they were able to erase an early 1-0 deficit after Rio Hondo scored in the first inning.
Pasadena continued piling on in the third with the help of a Mark Manuel single to right field, scoring Bryan Richman.
However, the bulk of Pasadena’s scoring came in the fifth inning when the team rallied for a total of six runs off four singles and a fielder’s choice. With a now 9-2 lead, the game was in the firm grasp of the Lancers.
Trying to surmount a comeback, Rio Hondo scored one run in the sixth inning and two in the seventh inning, with both runs in the seventh coming off back-to-back homers by Rio Hondo. However, the highlight of the inning came in the form of Evan Coad robbing a home run in right field, putting an end to any hint of a comeback for the Roadrunners.
Pasadena controlled the game for the remainder, continuing their scoring with three runs in the eighth inning. Aiden Nunez would come into the game to relieve starting pitcher Jameson Ferraro and secure Pasdena’s eighth win of the season.
Ferraro pitched well for the Lancers, going seven innings and striking out five while allowing five runs off six hits.
Thomas Villanueva and Bryan Richman led the team with three hits apiece, with Villanueva accumulating three RBIs for Pasadena.
Together, Pasadena led a strong front in securing their eighth win of the season, and prepare to face Rio Hondo in the series finale on Friday, March 1.
