The Altadena Coalition of Neighborhood Associations (ACONA) returns to in-person meetings with a controversial subject.

      By Nic Arzen

ACONA, Altadena’s organization dedicated to community advocacy, will return to in person meetings on Tuesday, September 24th at 7:00 pm at the Altadena Community Center located at 730 E. Altadena Drive.

The meeting will focus on the proposed sale of Nuccio’s Nursery to Polytechnic School.  The sale has proven to be a flashpoint for many Altadena residents upset by the potential of Polytechnic placing a sprawling sports complex on the pristine mountainside.

The ACONA meeting will present the LA County Regional Planning point of view and will clarify the project’s scope and its process as it moves forward.  The speakers will be from LA County Regional Planning, and the  structure of the meeting will provide opportunity for the community to ask questions about the process.

The mountains above Altadena are already encroached upon with houses that firefighters are forced to protect while the important forest burns. This happens on-average about every 50 years. We neither need nor want any more buildings or sports facilities in the mountains. Protect our forests and chaparral.
