      Clean Air Day

      Clean Air Day, October 5, is an annual event designed to focus public and political attention on the problem of air pollution.

      Here are the events happening in Altadena, Pasadena and surrounding areas.

      Altadena Clean Air Week

      Altadena Clean Air week is an extension of California Clean Air Day. Altadena Walkers kicked off clean air week with a walk around Altadena. In the evening, Safe Streets had a talk introducing the rest of the events for the week:

      • Wednesday, October 5
        – 7:00 am  – 8:00 am
        Altadena Walk to School on Clean Air Day for Altadena Elementary and Eliot Arts  Academy | Sponsored by Safe  Streets
        – 4:00 pm  – 6:00 pm
        Clean Air Day Celebration and Fair at Altadena Main Library. (More details here).
      • Thursday, October 6
        – 5:30 pm
        California Native Plant Society Online Webinar – Native Gardening 101:  Healthy Soils to support Native Plants in Drought | Register here.
      • Friday, October 7
        – 8:30 am – 11:30 am
        Altadena Main  Library | Walkabout: “Learn How  Re-imaging A Native Garden Can  Work Toward a Cleaner, Quieter Community” Led by Studio Petrichor | Register here.

        Main  Library | “1000 Yardscapes Challenge” – Panelists from AGZA, AH Tree Committee, South Coast AQMD, and 301 Organics will share how  you can promote clean air with Q&A  and AGZA Demonstration hosted by CHA  CHA:

        Main  Library | Celebrate end  of the week with  a raffle, food, and  fun.

      Pasadena: Plant Trees in District 3

      • Wednesday, October 5
        California Clean Air Day gave My Zero Waste Store and the Pasadena Audubon Society a $1,000 grant to plant native trees in Pasadena. The money is used to buy and plant eleven 15-gallon Redbud Trees and four15-gallon oak trees along Cypress Avenue near Orange Grove Blvd in District 3. An additional $300 was donated by an individual in District 3. Remaining funds will help purchase additional trees for the New Horizon School in Pasadena, near the Cypress Avenue planting.

      Pasadena Transit

      • Ride Pasadena Transit and Dial-A-Ride buses for free on #CleanAirDay, Oct. 5. View route and schedule info here.

      Foothill Transit

      • All Foothill Transit rides rides will be completely free from 4:00 am on Wed., Oct. 5, until 3:00 am on Thu., Oct. 6.

      Metro

      • All Metro Buses, Trains and Bikes, are free on #CleanAirDayCA on Wed., Oct. 5.
      • Oct. 7 through Oct. 9
        Metro’s new on-demand rideshare service, Micro, will be offering free trips within several zones in LA County. The new service is for short local trips and uses small vehicles (seating up to 10 passengers) and is available in eight L.A. County service zones. Use promo code KLine2022.
      • Metro Bike Share will be offering free 30-minute rides starting Oct. 7 through Oct. 9. To redeem your free rides, select 1-Ride at any kiosk, online or in the Metro Bike Share app and enter code 100722 to redeem. More offers on this link.

      Monterey Park
