A press release to our news room stated the following: “There are no standing universities left in Gaza. This encampment is inspired by and in solidarity with the 70+ university encampments across the United States and worldwide.
We aim to call attention to the ongoing violations of Palestinians’ rights under international law:
- The establishment and expansion of illegal settlements in the West Bank, including East Jerusalem; and all of colonized Palestine.
- The restriction of Palestinians’ freedom of movement; and,
- The forms of ill-treatment employed against Palestinian prisoners and “administrative detainees”; and,
- The illegal exploitation and pillage of natural resources in the occupied Palestinian territories that, among other things, cut off Palestinians’ access to primary water resources; and,
- The Israeli government’s current genocidal campaign and ground invasion against Palestinians in Gaza since October 7, 2023, has displaced 2.2 million Palestinians, murdered 40,000, and injured over 100,000.”
