Hollywood Burbank Airport will soon reconnect Southern California travelers with the Hawaiian Islands for the first time in more than two decades. Beginning May 13, 2026, Alaska Airlines will launch a daily seasonal route between Burbank (BUR) and Honolulu’s Daniel K. Inouye International Airport (HNL).
Airport Executive Director John Hatanaka said the airport is honored to partner with Alaska Airlines on the new service, calling it an exciting milestone for both the community and travelers seeking easier access to Hawai‘i.
Kirsten Amrine, Alaska Airlines’ vice president of revenue management and network planning, said the new Burbank–Honolulu route reflects the airline’s commitment to providing more travel options while emphasizing safety, convenience, and care.
The announcement comes as the airport moves forward with its Elevate BUR modernization project, which includes a new passenger terminal scheduled to open in October 2026. The $1.5 billion development will replace aging facilities and enhance comfort, accessibility, and efficiency for passengers.
This marks the first nonstop connection between Burbank and Honolulu since the early 2000s, expanding travel opportunities for residents across the San Gabriel Valley, San Fernando Valley, and greater Los Angeles region.
