TECH CORNER
The first Theatre @ Boston Court season was in 2003. In 2018, the much beloved 99-seat theater got a new name and a new website.

The new name, Boston Court Pasadena, came with a new logo and a new website. The name of the city of Pasadena was added in order to honor the community the theatre has served and entertained for 15 years.
Tech talk
The new website is slick and modern. It’s based on the open source software, WordPress. It touts the company’s newest play, Her Portmanteau, plus new music performances. The logo is fun and compliments the site and the Theatre’s mission.
What the new site lacks is an “About” page, an integral part of telling the story of the theatre and its history. It’s true that many in the city, and beyond, are familiar with Boston Court ‘Pasadena’, but there’s always a need for an “About” page telling the theater’s story and history. A drop-down menu on the top right corner of the main page serves as a “contact” page amongst other things. The techie in me would like a clear “Contact” page with a clean URL name (rather than the generic “bostoncourtpasadena.org/#0”). Plus, replacing the “0” in the URL will help Boston Court Pasadena in its SEO search. The Twitter account, @BostonCourt, is still the same. The Vimeo page is yet to be updated.
Overall it’s a new look along with an outstanding new logo. The company released the following statement via email:
As we approach the 15th anniversary of our opening on May 30th, we are excited to share with you our next chapter, as we launch a new brand and a new website. Our new brand reflects who we are as much as where we are, as well as the work we proudly present. We will continue the Boston Court aesthetics you have come to expect: intimate artistic excellence coupled with a sense of mystery and the unexpected that keeps you coming back–for music, for theatre, and more. And our new name, Boston Court Pasadena, anchors us in the community we are committed to serving and enhancing.
The West Coast premiere of Her Portmanteau will open on May 24th, 2018. Penned by first generation Nigerian-American storyteller Mfoniso Udofia, it chronicles the triumphs and struggles of a tenacious family matriarch and two daughters. In addition to the 99-seat theatre, there’s a smaller, flexible space for visual art, music, and dance.
