The game designers at Blizzard Entertainment have been bringing joy to millions of online gamers for years.

      By Chris Boutros

From some of their legacy games like, Rock & Roll Racing (1993) and The Lost Vikings (1992) that didn’t really generate much hype for the company, to the Warcraft Series that has brought entertainment to many for over 10 years.

The original Warcraft: Orcs & Humans starred the fantasy world of Azeroth where Orcs fled their home world of Outlands to the human world to survive the Burning Legion and quickly found themselves at war with the human race. This rivalry quickly brought the Warcraft game to be Blizzard Entertainment’s best seller and opened the doors to a whole extensive series of Warcraft games such as:

      • Warcraft II: Tides of Darkness (1995)
      • Warcraft II: Beyond the Dark Portal (1997)
      • Warcraft III: Reign of Chaos (2002)
      • World of Warcraft (2005)
      • World of Warcraft: Burning Crusades (2007)
      • Warcraft III: Wrath of the Lich King (2008)
      • World of Warcraft: Cataclysm (2010)
      • World of Warcraft: Mists of Pandaria (2012)
      • Hearthstone (2014)
      • World of Warcraft: Warlords of Draenor (2014)
      Diablo (Photo - YouTube).

During this time, Blizzard has grown to create other franchises that won the hearts of many.

The Diablo franchise seemed to be growing just as quickly as Warcraft series, though through a significantly less amount of games.

Diablo stars a small group of nameless heroes who venture forth to stop Diablo and his broods from wreaking havoc across the realm of earth. Huge game fans are excited to learn the fates of the heroes of the previous game after saving the world from Diablo and how the Lord of Chaos manages to escape again and again.

      StarCraft (Photo - pl.wikipedia.org).

      StarCraft (Photo – pl.wikipedia.org).

The third and last franchise is Starcraft.

The series follows the blood feud between three alien races, the corruption of each of their governments, and, my personal favorite, how this war continues to drive a wedge between the star struck loves, Jim Raynor and Sarah Kerrigan.

The company brought all three series together for a skirmish that Blizzard fans have never seen before in Heroes of the Storm.

Heroes of the Storm allows players to choose their favorite characters from any of the three franchises and join their friends in battle against their foes online. The game also allows players to add some personality to their gameplay by purchasing special content, such as early unlocks for their favorite characters and alternate costumes.

Meanwhile all eyes are on BlizzCon, a Blizzard convention where attendees are provided with a variety of special content only ticket holders can redeem.

Blizzcon takes place at the Anaheim Convention Center on November 4th and 5th of this year. This is where the company announces all of the recent news and updates on the games they currently have in the making and in progress. Stay tuned.
