In this context, the public is invited to join NAACP Pasadena Branch President, Allen Edson, on a bike tour to learn about the African American community that existed in the area prior to the 210 freeway and 710 construction that was displaced to make way for the freeway in the years between 1965 and 1974.
Be sure to bring your bike in good working condition and at least one spare tube that fits your bike’s tires. Helmets are recommended for everyone. Helmets are required by law for anyone under 18. Bringing water, a snack, and sunscreen is also recommended.
The route will be approximately 5-6 miles and will be primarily flat with no significant hills.
