What do you do with a chair when the leg has come loose? With a toaster that no longer works? Toss it? No way! Repair it at…Repair Café.

      By Jessica Woo

The free meeting place where you can repair things (sometimes together) is back at the Shed in Pasadena. From clothes, furniture, electrical appliances, bicycles, appliances, toys, et cetera, you’re bound to find expert volunteers with repair skills in all kinds of fields.

Visitors bring their broken items from home and volunteer specialists do their best to repair them, all done for free. If you have nothing to repair, you can enjoy a cup of tea or coffee, or lend a hand with someone else’s repair job. You can also help yourself to the Really, Really, Free Market, where everything is free for the sharing.

      New additions

Patagonia Pasadena will be on hand for free Patagonia equipment and clothing repairs! They will also be doing some minor sewing repairs on other items! (Patagonia Pasadena is hosting composting workshop in their store in addition to offering free weekly yoga sessions).

Another new addition to Repair Cafe at the Shed is Repair the Landscape with a talk by Rishi Kumar (scheduled at 12:30 p.m.).  A Wordsmith will be on hand for your tough job applications, resume consult, and much more. They will also have Bike repair by “Around the Cycle”.

      Here’s what to expect:

      • Tinkers for electronics and appliances.
      • Tailors.
      • Massage chair.
      • Bike repair.
      • Wordsmithing for term papers, resumes, Dear Johns, etc.
      • Knife sharpening.
      • Silver polishing.
      • Lanscape advising.
      • Piano singing.
      • Really, Really, Free Market, where everything is free for the sharing.

This will be a Zero waste event.
