As the sun went down and the stage lights of the Levitt Pavilion turned bright, the eclectic sounds of DJ Carlos Niño brightened the airwaves.

It all went down on Thursday, July 17th, as part of the venues free summer concert series. Presented in part by Dublab (dublab.com), the non-profit web radio collective, the evening line up featured in between live DJ sets by Carlos Niño, the experimental sounds of Teebs Band, and the tenor jazz performer Kamasi Washington.
Teebs
The experimental sounds of Teebs brought out the cheers from the younger audience enjoying the music on the lawns of the pavilion. The loops and samples as combined with live drums, keyboards and guitar debuted Teebs Band’s second live performance to date and was received with much appreciation from the fans. The set included mostly new material from his current release “E S T A R A” on Brainfeeder records and concluded the set with a couple of tracks from his first release titled “Ardour” which proved to be a crowd favorite as the audience in hand shouted for “one more song.”
Kamasi Washington
Next on the lineup was a Jazz performance by Kamasi Washington and the west coast Get Down band. His set started with a crowd-pleasing solo by the band’s keyboard player that blew the crowd away and set the stage to what became the closing performance of the night. The jazz saxophonist brought the house down with his solo performance and got the older crowd moving and grooving as the evening came to a close.
This crowd-pleasing experience is surely one to experience before the conclusion of these free summer concerts. For a list of upcoming shows visit the Levitt Pavilion schedule for more info. All shows are free and definitely worth checking out!
