Pasadena Humane Society Distributes Free Pet Food and Supplies.
By Melissa Michelson
On Saturday, January 11, the Pasadena Humane Society will hold the second day of its donation drive at Pasadena City College (Parking Lot 3 on Del Mar and Hill) for Eaton fire survivors and their pets.
On the first day of the drive, pet supplies like bowls, doggie sweaters, pet beds and pet food were available. Some residents came with their pets.
Chris Briffett, head of Pasadena Humane Society’s volunteer department said, “We’ve had an outpouring of support.”
He explained they have received enough pet food and supplies and have sufficient volunteers for this weekend’s “Pet Food Pantry and Donation Drop Off”, and what they need now is more monetary donations to give animal burn-victims needed veterinarian treatment.
The January 8, 2025, 6:30 pm update on their website states, “We have taken in over 300 animals due to evacuations and have staff and volunteers working nonstop to help with their care. We are starting to see many animals coming in with burns and injuries. These animals are being treated in our ICU. We are providing them with pain medications, wound care, fluid, and oxygen as needed.”
The Pasadena Humane Society serves as a lost and found for displaced pets in North Pasadena and Altadena. If the animals are ID’d (either through chip or collar), the owners will be contacted. The animals will receive shelter and care at the Humane Society, then be put up for adoption.
