Altadena Town Council was briefed on Wednesday, February 1, 2023, regrading a recent deputy-involved shooting.
By News Desk
The Town Council was briefed, today, Wednesday, 2/1, by Captain Williams of the Altadena Sheriff’s Station, regarding the deputy-involved shooting that occurred on Sunday, 1/22/2023, on El Sereno Ave. in Altadena. While the investigation is on-going and has been taken over by the Department of Justice as a matter of protocol, we thought it important to provide some preliminary facts:
- during the course of the incident, their were six victims including two deputies, two uninjured civilians, and two injured civilians;
- two of the victims were treated for stab wounds, requiring stitches, and are recovering;
- the suspect was fired upon by two deputies and was struck in the front torso;
- paramedics were called and aid was rendered, but he ultimately succumbed to his injuries; the weapon, a pair of scissors, was recovered from the scene.
We’ve asked to be kept abreast of the findings of the investigation as they become available. There is body-cam footage that has been viewed by an executive committee comprised of the Sheriff, the Office of the Inspector General, and County Counsel and it is expected that the footage will be made public at some point.

Was he REALLY shot in the torso? Or was it actually from the back?
