Founded by 14-year-old Avery Colvert, Altadena Girls was launched to support young girls who lost their homes and personal belongings in the fire. The nonprofit quickly mobilized, offering thousands of bags and suitcases filled with essentials, including clothing, beauty products, electronics, and school supplies, through its free community pop-up shop.
“I’m so excited to recognize Altadena Girls as my 2025 Nonprofit of the Year,” said Senator Pérez. “As our community felt the devastation of the Eaton Fire, I was so impressed by Avery’s commitment to serving, giving back and inspiring hope for the future. At just 14 years old, Avery is already making a big impact on her community.”
Now looking to the future, Altadena Girls is working to expand where teen girls can grow, connect, and heal.
“We are so honored to be recognized as a California Nonprofit of the Year,” said Colvert. “When the fires started, I knew I had to do something, and it is a privilege to build Altadena Girls into a safe and inspiring community for teen girls”
