“Altadena: Not For Sale” is organizing a protest to send a message to land speculators that they cannot be bought, their properties are not for sale, and that they will rebuild their community back to what it was before.
By News Desk
Altadenans are mourning the tragic destruction of their homes and their community, thousands are displaced, and haven’t even been allowed to return to the remains of their homes, but profiteers are already making offers to buy their land. “Altadena: Not For Sale” wants to send developers a message: “We are not leaving, we cannot be bought.”
Organizers say that anyone can join the protest; some signs will be available, but anyone is welcome to make their own.
Residents and allies are expected to speak at the event about their experiences warding off developers in the one week since the Eaton Fire burned their neighborhoods down. After one hour, a car caravan will head to a second location.
"Altadena is Not for Sale" Protest Starting Location: Corner of Lake and Woodbury Location 2: Corner of Fair Oaks and Woodbury Location 3: Corner of Lincoln and Woodbury Sat. January 18, 2025 2:00 pm - 4:00 pm

Good evening,
My name is Breanna Marinez, and I am a ESGV Program Case Manager, we are with the Youth at work (Y@W) Program through DEO and the Los Angeles County America’s Job Centers of California. I am also a representative working closely with the Eaton Fire Collaborative, alongside community partners supporting youth and families impacted by the recent fires.
I am reaching out to share information about our Youth@Work Program specifically supporting Eaton Fire–impacted youth, and to explore ways we can partner to ensure students are aware of and able to access this opportunity during a critical time for their families.
What we do:
Provide flexible, student friendly employment opportunities up to 160 hours of paid work experience (including disaster relief and recovery support)
$17.87/hour paid wages
A tailored career and employment plan
Job readiness and essential life skills training
Connections to workforce programs and long-term career pathways
This opportunity is available to youth ages 14–24 who lived in or were impacted by the Eaton Fire evacuation order or warning zones at the time of the fire. We would greatly appreciate your support in sharing this program with students and families, particularly those who may have been directly impacted.
