On January 22, 2026, the Alhambra Police Department was notified by personnel from the Alhambra Unified School District regarding allegations involving a staff member at Garfield Elementary School. The allegations involved the unauthorized recording of a female student without her knowledge.

Officers promptly initiated an investigation, which led to the identification of the suspect as Christopher Ryan Ramirez, a resident of Monrovia. Based on the findings, Ramirez was arrested on suspicion of violating Penal Code 647(j)(2) — invasion of privacy. He was subsequently booked at the Alhambra City Jail.
In a statement, the Alhambra Police Department said it takes all allegations involving the safety and privacy of students seriously and works closely with school district officials to ensure a safe learning environment for all students.
