The new season of Restoration Concerts begins on Sunday, September 24, 2023 at 4:00 p. with a piano and violin duo.

      By News Desk

Nathan Cole, violin and Cindy Lam, piano, will be performing Bach C Major solo sonata, Clara Schumann 3 romances, Brahms G Major Sonata, and Piazzolla Oblivion. Tickets will be available at the door for $25. The concert will be held in the beautiful historic Library Community Room at 1115 El Centro St. in South Pasadena.

Los Angeles Philharmonic First Associate Concertmaster, Nathan Cole, joined the orchestra in 2011.  He has appeared as guest concertmaster with the orchestras of Pittsburgh, Minnesota, Houston, Ottawa, Seattle, and Portland, Oregon. He was previously a member of the Chicago Symphony and Principal Second Violin of the Saint Paul Chamber Orchestra. A native of Lexington, KY, he made his debut with the Louisville Orchestra at the age of 10.  Cole’s articles and videos on practicing, performing, teaching, and auditioning have helped thousands of violinists worldwide. In addition to his online teaching, Cole is on faculty at the Colburn School for the Performing Arts.

Sought after by world class musicians, pianist Cindy Lam has had the pleasure of performing with critically acclaimed musicians such as internationally celebrated multiple Grammy winner, American cellist Lynn Harrell; concertmasters of the LA Phil, LA Opera, and Hollywood Bowl Orchestras; members of the Los Angeles Philharmonic and Los Angeles Chamber Orchestra; as well as Konstantin Boyarsky, principal viola of Royal Opera House – Covent Garden, and Nitzan Haroz, principal trombonist of the Philadelphia Orchestra. In 2019, Cindy performed in an 18-city tour of China with violinist Chin Kim, top prizewinner of Queen Elisabeth, Paganini, and Indianapolis International Competitions.

In addition to tickets available for purchase at the door, season tickets are now on sale for $136 for 8 concerts.  Purchasing the season saves concertgoers $64 over ticket prices at the door.  For more information, contact restorationconcerts@gmail.com  or go to their website.

The Restoration Concerts Committee, a committee of the non-profit organization, The Friends of the South Pasadena Public Library, has a goal to bring world-class music at an affordable price to the concertgoers in South Pasadena and surrounding communities. As the name suggests, net proceeds from the concerts provide for restorations, enhancements and other benefits to the South Pasadena Library and Community Room.
