Back in May of 1998, while running on a trail in Altadena, Azita Milanian, found a newborn baby buried alive in a shallow grave and saved his life. Inspired by saving the abandoned baby, Milanian founded Children of One Planet. “My dream is to see children free of hunger and violence one day. Since finding baby Christian, my life has been dedicated to bringing awareness to the dangers that children and teenagers are facing everyday,” she said.
The Safe Haven law now allows any mother that feels she cannot care for or does not want her baby can bring her newborn baby to any hospital or fire station. No questions asked.
The work of Children of One Planet has been recognized by Save the Children and other organizations as well as Her Royal Highness Princess Anne of Great Britain.
The Dance for Hope America fund raising event will be held at the location where the last scenes of the movie, Dirty Dancing, were filmed.
