      PASADENA — ColoradoBoulevard.net:

Forty-three full-time faculty members at Pasadena City College have earned tenure, capping a four-year journey that grants them one of academia’s signature provisions.

      By News Desk

The tenure awards came as a result of a vote by the Board of Trustees Wednesday night.

“The entire Board is glad to provide this recognition to these faculty members,” said Sandra Chen Lau, president of the Board of Trustees of the Pasadena Area Community College District. “Tenure and academic freedom form the groundwork of our system of higher education. We salute the work that these educators have done to arrive at this exciting time in their careers.”

“We are so grateful to have these talented educators join the ranks of our tenured faculty,” said Dr. Erika Endrijonas, superintendent/president of Pasadena City College. “Their subject matter expertise is among the best in the community college system, and their commitment to student success inspires others across California. I’m pleased to celebrate with them tonight.”

Tonight’s tenure class has special significance to Dr. Endrijonas, as they first began full-time positions at the college in 2019, the same year that she began as superintendent/president. The group of 43 includes four Black and 13 Latinx individuals. There are 485 full-time faculty members at the college.

The newly tenured faculty members are:
