The L. A. County Registrar-Recorder has put this out on social media: “There are many outstanding ballots to be processed that were returned by USPS or dropped off in person on Election Day. The L.A. County Registrar-Recorder team is diligently working to ensure every vote is processed within the Official Election Canvass.”

U. S. Senate and U. S. Congress Races
In the race for U. S. Senate Adam Schiff leads Steve Garvey, and the two will continue campaigning until November.
In the race to fill the Congressional seat that Adam Schiff is vacating, the top two vote getters are State Assemblymember Democrat Laura Friedman with 29% of the vote and Republican Alex Balekian with 19% of the vote. State Senator Anthony Portantino is in third with 14% of the vote. California’s Congressional District 30 has 39% more registered Democrats than registered Republicans.
Local State Senate and Assembly Races
In the State Senate race to fill the seat vacated by Anthony Portantino, who is termed out, the top two vote getters are Republican Elizabeth Wong Ahlers with 36% of the vote and Democrat Sasha Renee Perez with 31%. Ms. Perez is currently Vice Mayor of the City of Alhambra, and the California Democratic Party’s endorsed candidate. In Senate District 25 there are about 21% more registered Democrats than registered Republicans.
In the race for State Assembly District 41, Republican Michelle Martinez is leading Democrat John Harabedian 35% to 32%, so it appears they will face off in November. The district has about 16% more registered Democrats than registered Republicans.
Pasadena Mayor and City Council Races
In Pasadena, Mayor Gordo is leading challenger Allen Shay with a commanding 82% of the vote. On the City Council, challenger Rick Cole is leading incumbent Felicia Williams with 60% of the vote. Incumbents Justin Jones and Gene Masuda are leading their challengers with 59% and 69% of the vote, respectively.
Pasadena City College Races
As in the Pasadena mayoral and city council races, there are big leads in the two PCC races. James Aragon is far in front in his race with over 77% of the vote and will be elected to that seat. Ryan Liu also has a lead with over 55% of the vote and is very likely to have won that election as well.
Incumbent PCC Trustee Tammy Silver will serve another term as she did not have an opponent in this election.
Outstanding ballots
The estimate of outstanding ballots to be processed is 460,500:
- Vote by Mail ballots (VBM): 450,000
- Conditional Voter Registration ballots: 10,000
- Provisional ballots: 500
This estimate has been adjusted based on Vote by Mail ballots received in the mail today and the estimated number of ballots returned at Vote Centers and Official Drop Boxes on Election Day.
