Monty Bonz, Tyler Doig, Taidi Yue, and Sadie Zierler were honored at the national level after their Gold Key-winning works advanced from regional judging.
The Scholastic Art and Writing Awards is one of the nation’s longest-running and most respected creative competitions for students in grades 7–12. Submissions are evaluated based on originality, technical skill, and the emergence of a personal voice or vision. National medalists receive certificates and medals and are also considered for opportunities such as exhibitions, publications, and scholarships.
SPHS had a standout showing at the regional level as well, earning a total of 100 awards, including Honorable Mentions, Silver Keys, and Gold Keys. This success reflects the dedication and guidance of SPHS’s supervising teachers: Mark Afram, Rouzanna Berberian, Karen Hames, Aimee Levie-Hultman, and Diane Shires.
