The City of San Gabriel and the Friends of La Laguna will host a festive Play Day on Saturday, May 17, in honor of the 60th anniversary of the iconic La Laguna Playground, affectionately known as “Dinosaur Park.”

The celebration will take place from 11:00 am to 2:00 pm at Vincent Lugo Park, located at 300 W. Wells St. The event is open to the public and will feature family-friendly activities commemorating the historic playground.
Constructed in 1965 by Mexican artist Benjamin Dominguez, La Laguna Playground is renowned for its whimsical concrete sea creatures and remains a cherished, largely untouched feature of Vincent Lugo Park. The anniversary marks six decades of imaginative play and community enjoyment.
Organizers invite families and community members to join in recognizing the artistic and cultural legacy of this beloved San Gabriel landmark.
