The City of Pasadena’s Economic Development Division has received a prestigious Award of Merit from the California Association of Local Economic Development (CALED) for its forward-thinking Economic Development Strategic Plan.

Recognized in the “Programs and Promotions” category, the plan was honored for its innovation and meaningful contributions to the field of economic development in 2024.
The award was presented during the CALED 2025 Annual Conference luncheon, where economic leaders from across the state gathered to celebrate excellence in local economic initiatives. As part of the conference, Teresa Garcia, Senior Project Manager with Pasadena’s Economic Development Division, also participated in a breakout panel titled “Supporting and Growing Local Businesses,” where she shared insights into Pasadena’s approach to sustainable economic growth.
Developed through extensive collaboration with community members, businesses, and nonprofit partners, the City’s Economic Development Strategy outlines a long-term vision for economic prosperity. The strategy is anchored by six guiding principles and includes 27 priority projects to be implemented over the next five years. These projects address critical areas such as job creation, shopping and dining enhancements, innovation support, and tourism development.
