The City of Pasadena will provide three home-delivered meals per day to qualifying older adults, as part of the State of California’s Great Plates Delivered initiative.
By News Desk
Great Plates Delivered helps adults 65 and older, and adults 60-64 who are at high risk while providing essential economic stimulus to local restaurants.
Pasadena City Manager Steve Mermell said:
This is a wonderful opportunity to support some of our most vulnerable residents and help local businesses during the Safer at Home order. While LA County also has a Great Plates Delivered program, we wanted to create a local program to best meet the needs of our community.
Individual participants may apply for Great Plates Delivered at the City’s Great Plates link or by calling (626) 744-7311 (pending eligibility requirements). Restaurants and other food providers interested in participating in the program can fill out an interest form.
Cost
Program costs will be initially paid by the City, 75% of which will be eligible for reimbursement by FEMA and 18.75% by the State. Pasadena’s final share of the expense will be 6.25%. The program will run until June 10, 2020. The state of California will seek two additional 30-day extensions from FEMA which, if approved, would extend Great Plates Delivered to as late as August 10, 2020.
