The Pasadena Police Department participated in the final round of competitions on Friday, May 24, 2024 in Lubbock, Texas.
The Best Neighborhood Program (BNP) award recognizes the outstanding work of governmental entities, businesses or corporations in the United States who work to improve the quality of life in their communities and neighborhoods. Best Neighborhood Program awards are given in two categories Physical Revitalization/Beautification and Social Revitalization/Neighborliness.
The Pasadena Police Department’s entry – Community Police Academy (CPA) en Español (in Spanish) provides residents, community and civic leaders with an inside look at the internal workings of the Pasadena Police Department. During the academy, students are introduced to Community Policing and how this form of policing can help build partnerships and solve problems that arise in the community.
Started in 2010 and offered once a year, 2024 will mark the 14th year CPA En Español is offered. The goal of the program is to educate a section of the population that has otherwise been isolated due to the language barrier, to foster trust within the Spanish-speaking community, and to bridge the gap of resources. Its counterpart CPA in English, just completed its 55th class.
The Pasadena Police Department was recognized in the Social Revitalization/Neighborliness category.
