Anticipating a hot and dry summer, the Pasadena Fire Department is conducting hazardous vegetation inspections.
By News Desk
Pasadena residents in Very High Fire Hazard Severity Zones (VHFHSZ) have received a letter and a brochure from the Pasadena Fire Marshal outlining mandated requirements to comply. The ordinance is designed to minimize fire danger by controlling the density and location of flammable vegetation.
Fire Chief Chad Augustin described the best defense against disastrous fires and walk through a home inspection and concerns this fire season at a press conference on Wednesday, May 15, 2024.
Fire personnel will work with homeowners to gain compliance during inspection to clear vegetation, but homeowners should recognize that brush clearance is essential to prevent brushfires, protect property, and save lives. If violations are found, a fee will be waived if the property owner corrects the problem within 30 days.
Many insurance carriers will accept the City’s inspection report as proof of compliance which they may require in order to provide coverage.
