      The San Gabriel Valley is spoiled with perfect weather and an abundance of parks and public spaces that make ideal settings for summer events. Colorado Boulevard newspaper is here to help with a weekly roundup of the best bets for outdoor cultural fun.

      In addition to the usual full slate of farmers markets, which you can find under our Events tab, we’re highlighting the following special summer-only happenings::

      Tuesday, July 7

      > 9:00 am: Free Workout with Village Fitness San Marino in Lacy Park
      > 5:30 pm: San Gabriel’s Summer Art in the Park – Wilderness Explorers, Smith Park

      Wednesday, July 8

      > 6:00 pm – 7:00 pm: Wonderful Wednesdays at South Pasadena Library — POWERHOUSE Percussive Dance: A fusion of tap, clogging, Irish step, and stomp, on the El Centro Street side of Library Park.

      Thursday, July 9

      > 4:45 pm – 6:45 pm: Descanso Gardens Summer Music and Dance –Performing in the Amphitheater at 4:45 pm and 5:45 pm, Las Colibrí (“The Hummingbirds”) brings the joy of mariachi to life with dazzling voices, lively strings, and plenty of heart. The all-women ensemble creates a festive musical celebration. In the Rose Pavilion at 5:00 pm and 6:00 pm, the foot-stomping Wimberley Bluegrass Band, a sibling group known for blazing picking, close family harmonies, and a joyful blend of original songs and classics, brings roots music to life with heart and energy. Both performances are included with garden admission.
      > 5:30 pm: San Gabriel’s Summer Art in the Park — Wilderness Explorers, Grapevine Arbor Park
      > 6:00 pm – 8:00 pm: The Westerns at Blossom Market Hall — free alt-country band performance in San Gabriel
      > 6:30 pm: Arcadia Concert and Movie in the Park — Concert of the New Romantics, a Taylor Swift tribute band, followed by screening of The Lorax, all on the Arcadia City Hall lawn.
      > 7:00 pm: Summer in San Gabriel Concert Series — Free performance of California surf sounds from Woodie & The Longboards, Mission Playhouse Plaza.
      > 7:00 pm: Pasadena Movies in the Park — Free screening of Gabby’s Dollhouse, Villa Parke.
      > 7:30 pm: Old Pasadena Sunset Sessions — Healing Gems (60s pyschedlic band), One Colorado Courtyard. Free with RSVP.
      > 8:00 pm: South Pasadena Movies in the Park — Free screening of Hoppers, Garfield Park.

      Saturday, July 10

      > 7:00 pm: Alhambra Concerts and Movies in the Park — Free performance by The C Band (Latin), Alhambra Park Bandshell.

      Sunday, July 11

      > 7:00 pm: Alhambra Concerts and Movies in the Park — Evening begins with a free animal pre-show, followed by screening of Zootopia 2 at dusk.
      > 7:00 pm: Altadena Concerts in the Park — Stretch out in Loma Alta Park and enjoy the Swiftie tribute band Dream Like Taylor.
