Starting Friday night with a special book signing event with former Monty Python troupe member Eric Idle (see separate article), the massive book festival known as Rare Books Pasadena takes over the historic Raymond Theatre, 129 North Raymond Avenue, Pasadena, through Sunday, February 22nd.
Rare Books Pasadena welcomes booksellers and bibliophiles from around the world to share their love of antiquarian books, fine prints, maps, ephemera. With support from AbeBooks, more than 70 exhibitors from London, Melbourne, New York, and throughout the United States and Canada will fill the historic Raymond Theatre and a second Side Stage location at the neighboring Courtyard by Marriott ballroom with a dazzling array of rare books and other historical material.
Old Pasadena’s very own Whitmore Rare Books will be on hand.
The Raymond Theatre, originally named the Crown Theatre, was built in 1921 and became a prominent entertainment venue known for its elegant design and grand architecture.
Tickets, available online here and likely to sell out, range from $15-25. A weekender pass to the book fair is $25 and includes a limited-edition poster and entry to the fair both days.
