While above normal temperatures will spread to East Coast by Sunday, two storm systems will impact our area.
By News Desk
Heavy rain and snow will impact our region late Friday evening through Saturday, then periods of rain and snow Saturday night and Sunday. Very strong south to southeast winds 35 to 55 mph with damaging gusts to 80 mph Friday and Saturday, then winds will slowly diminish.
Snow levels 7000 to 7500 feet through Saturday morning will lower to around 6500 feet by Saturday evening, and to between 5000 and 5500 feet late Saturday night and Sunday. Snow may locally fall as low as 4500 feet.
Possible damages
Plan on dangerous travel conditions with whiteout conditions in the High Mountain elevations. Damage to trees and power lines is likely. If you must travel, significant wind impacts are expected for Interstate 5 near the Grapevine, where damaging wind gusts of 70 to 80 mph are likely.
A Winter Storm Warning for snow means severe winter weather conditions will make travel very hazardous or impossible. If you must travel, keep an extra flashlight, food and water in your vehicle in case of an emergency.
