In response to growing concerns about air quality following the Eaton Fire, several monitoring efforts have been established in Altadena and Pasadena to provide residents with real-time data and health guidance.

Here’s where air quality is currently being tracked:
– Altadena Golf Course
A dedicated air quality monitoring station has been installed at the Altadena Golf Course. This site offers real-time data to the public and serves as a key location for understanding conditions in central Altadena—particularly useful for residents and outdoor visitors.
You can view the latest data on the SCAQMD website, which includes an interactive map showing exact station locations and pollutant levels.
Monitoring sites include:
- Site 1: Near Altadena Golf Course
- Site 2: Christ the Shepherd Lutheran Church
- Site 3: Fire Station 11
– South Coast AQMD Monitoring Stations
The South Coast Air Quality Management District (AQMD) is operating three monitoring stations in the greater Altadena area. These stations are updated hourly, and current readings indicate levels below State and Federal toxic air standards. Residents can view the live data on the SCAQMD website, which features an interactive map showing exact locations and readings.

– Caltech Community Monitoring Network
In a collaborative initiative, Caltech and local community members have launched a specialized monitoring network to assess conditions in fire-affected zones. As of March 24, 2025, 25 air quality sensors have been deployed across Altadena and Pasadena, particularly near the burn areas.
These sensors are designed to detect airborne dust and ash, offering a detailed picture of pollution patterns post-fire. More information is available through Caltech’s PHOENIX platform at phoenix.caltech.edu.
