      This WeekendOur area is buzzing this weekend with quality events that are enlightening, and mostly free! Here’s a comprehensive list of what’s happening in town and nearby for the weekend.

      Friday

      Caltech - Occidental Band– 7:00 pm – 8:30 pm: Adam Bray presents and signs Ultimate Star Wars

      For each purchased copy of the newest title, customers may bring up to three copies from home to be signed (@ Vroman’s Bookstore).

      – 7:00 pm – 9:00 pm: Caltech Tai Chi Club

      For beginners as well as advanced, best of all it’s free (@ Winnett Lounge – upstairs).

      – 7:00 pm: Merton’s Centennial Celebrated in Jazz Fair

      A special celebration of the 100th anniversary of Thomas Merton’s birth (@ All Saints – Sweetland Hall).

      – 7:00 pm: PCC’s 90th Commencement

      More than 1,800 students will be taking the next steps in their academic careers (@Robinson Stadium).

      – 8:00 pm – 9:30 pm: Spring Concert

      The Caltech Glee Club, Caltech-Occidental Symphony and Caltech Chamber Singers join forces to present their Spring Concert (@ Caltech -Ramo Auditorium).

      Saturday

      LitFest Pqsadena 2015– 9:00 am – 11:00 am: Family Nature Walk @Eaton Canyon

      A fresh walk in nature for the enitre family (@ Eaton Canyon Nature Center).

      – 9:30 am – 1:30 pm: Pasadena Pedestrian Safety Workshop

      PasadenaCSC will be hosting an interactive pedestrian safety workshop facilitated by pedestrian planning professionals from California Walks (@ Pasadena Presbyterian Church).

      – 10:00 am – 3:00 pm: 2015 Golden Future 50+ Senior Expo

      If you’re a baby boomer, a senior, or maybe you know someone who would be interested in attending (friend, family member, neighbor, etc.) this free event is for you (@ Pasadena Convention Center).

      – 10:00 am – 430 pm: i C Ceres – Space Science Festival

      Join scientists, engineers and educators from a variety of NASA’s fleet of missions for a unique experience featuring exhibits, mission hardware, models, hands-on activities and demonstrations (@ Caltech).

      – 10:00 am – 3:00 pm: Pasadena Fire Departments Open House

      Meet the dedicated men and women of the Pasadena Fire Department during Fire Service Day (All over Pasadena – Check listing).

      – 12:00 pm – 11:30 pm: LitFest Pasadena 2015

      LitFest Pasadena, returning for its fourth year to the byways, bookstores, wine bars, theaters, coffee houses and streets of Pasadena’s Playhouse District (All over the Playhouse District – Check listing).

      – 2:00 pm – 7:00 pm: PYSO Spring Concert at Ambassador Auditorium (all ensembles)

      Great music from the Pasadena Youth Symphony Orchestras (PYSO) orchestra (@ Ambassador Auditorium).

      – 4:00 pm – 6:00 pm: Artist’s Talk: Mónica Mayer and Victor Lerma

      A conversation between artists with exhibition opening immediately afterwards with a reception (@ The Armory Center For the Arts).

      – 7:00 pm: Second Saturday Series – Altadena Library

      The first-ever monthly event series, Second Saturdays, with a special tribute, Beatles Sing-A-Long (@ Altadena Main Library).

      – 8:00 pm – 9:30 pm: Spring Concert

      If you missed it on Friday, here’s your chance to catch the Caltech Glee Club, Caltech-Occidental Symphony and Caltech Chamber Singers, sing their hearts out (@ Caltech -Ramo Auditorium).

      Sunday

      I love you mom– 9:00 am – 2:00 pm: Old Pasadena Farmers Market

      Fresh produce and live music and children activities (@ Holly Street at Fair Oaks Avenue).

      – 9:00 am – 10:30 am: Plant Walk @ Eaton Canyon

      A leisurely walk, about 2 hours, through the native plant garden that surrounds the Center and into the nearby wild areas (@ Eaton Canyon Nature Center).

      – 10:00 am – 6:00 pm: USC Pacific Asia Museum Free Admission

      Enjoy concerts in the courtyard, docent led tours, Silk Road Storytime, plus cultural festivals and performances (@ USC Pacific Asia Musuem).

      – 10:15 am – 10:30 am: Mike Feuer Speaks on Gun Violence

      Los Angeles City Attorney Mike Feuer will discuss gun violence prevention (@ All Saints Church).

      – 11:00 am – 1:00 pm: We Heart Moms Day & Mama’s Choice Giveaway

      This Sunday Funday is all about Mom! And she’ll be treated like a queen – with mimosas, massages, mini manis, mini cupcakes, music, memories and photo booth fun and more!  (Treats while supplies last; massage sign-up first-come first-served) (@ One Colorado Courtyard).

      – 6:00 pm – 7:00 pm: Caltech Spring Chamber Music Series

      Enjoy music of Romantic masters Mendelssohn, Brahms, and Rachmaninoff performed by outstanding Caltech student musicians (@ Clatech – Dabney Lounge).
