What Dramatic Campaigns Term Limits Will Create!

As we near the March 5 primary the glossy mailers crowding our mailboxes are growing contentious in their messages, and the candidates’ newsletters are hurling accusations at one another.

      By News Desk

In the Supervisors race Assemblyman Chris Holden is terming out. He has set his sights on District 5 of Los Angeles County Board of Supervisors as a place to continue his political career. The incumbent in that race, Kathryn Barger, is running for her third and final term. The latest mailer war in that race is filled with accusations: Holden accusing Barger of benefitting from Trump voters, Barger holding firm as the only person in the race endorsed by Planned Parenthood.

The most explosive paper-based salvos in the local campaign wars are for State Senate 25 and District 2 of Pasadena City Council.

Alhambra Vice Mayor Sasha Perez boldly accused Yvonne Yiu of being a Republican and (even worse) literally absent on abortion rights. Yiu fought back with images of Perez in a garbage can.

District 2 of Pasadena City Council is the site of a 1:1 wrestling match with incumbent City Council member Felicia Williams and challenger Rick Cole in a mailer brawl that has tickled the fancy of local politicos.
