October is Pasadena’s Walktober Month, when residents are encouraged to get out of their cars and explore the city on foot, at whatever pace and level of mobility works best for them. The month includes a full slate of events, many of which fill up quickly.

This Saturday, October 3, from 9:00 to 11:00 am, residents can join a free environmental-themed walk beginning at Robinson Park. Reservations are recommended.
The Neighborhood Walk and Roll is designed for people of all ages and abilities and aims to help make Pasadena a healthier place to live.
During this walk, participants will explore how neighborhood conditions affect daily health, including opportunities for physical activity, safer and greener streets, and cleaner air.
The event also supports the city’s preparation of its first Environmental Justice Element. Participants will be encouraged to identify environmental factors that affect their health, particularly as the community adapts to climate-change impacts such as hotter summer days and unpredictable weather.
The discussion will focus on five core environmental-justice priorities:
- Cleaner air and reduced exposure to pollution
- Access to healthy, affordable food
- Safer, greener streets for walking, biking, and other forms of active transportation
- Safe, healthy, and affordable housing
- Better access to public spaces, including parks and libraries
