Visiting Monrovia and Arcadia via Gold Line

Anyone who has looked at the Gold Line map or has visited the stations in the cities of Monrovia and Arcadia know very well that the station locations are not ideal for those wanting to visit some of those cities’ key attractions. The Gold Line station in Monrovia is about a mile walk from Old Town Monrovia. And the Arcadia Station is at minimum a mile from Santa Anita Park with the Westfield Santa Anita Mall and LA County Arboretum slightly further way.

Distances such as these from station to destination do enter the thought process of those wanting to visit these areas and could be prohibitive for some.

Recognizing this, city officials from both Monrovia and Arcadia have implemented a bus/shuttle system in their respective jurisdictions to usher Gold Line riders to their area’s main attractions.

Monrovia

The City of Monrovia has begun a shuttle bus that runs on Friday and Saturday evenings (5pm to 10pm), connecting riders from Monrovia’s Station Square Gold Line station to Monrovia Public Library in Old Town Monrovia. This bus is a great option for those wanting to visit Old Town Monrovia’s Friday Night Festival. The bus is free to ride with a valid TAP card or $1 without.

There are other options to get to Old Town Monrovia from the Gold Line Station that run Monday through Sunday.*

Arcadia

The City of Arcadia has begun a bus service that will connect Gold Line patrons to Santa Anita Park, Methodist Hospital, Westfield Santa Anita Mall and the LA County Arboretum. The service will be operated by Arcadia Transit and is free until June 15, 2016. This bus service will run 7 days a week Monday through Sunday. During the week the buses will run from about 7am to 6pm. And on the weekends the buses will run from about 9am to 6pm. (See schedule below or visit Arcadia Transit for more details.)
