Jason Pu, newly appointed Region 9 HUD Director, officially resigned as a San Gabriel City Councilmember at the January 18, 2022 City Council meeting.

The city accepted the resignation of Council Member Pu, with regrets. The current sitting Councilmembers expressed their gratitude for Pu’s nine years on the Council. Pu himself became a bit emotional talking about his tenue as a Councilmember, but stated, “The City is in good hands.”
The resignation of Mr. Pu created the need for the City Council to take action to fill the vacant seat. In a 4-0 vote, the Council voted to fill the vacancy by appointment rather than hold a special election.
Candidates for the vacancy must be qualified and registered to vote in the city of San Gabriel.
