In light of the recent announcement regarding layoffs, the United Teachers of Pasadena (UTP) has issued a statement addressing the situation.

“UTP are not accepting this vote as final. The District has other options. UTP has a plan to push back for stability for our students and schools.
We are looking to other Board members to join those who made the right decision to prioritize students and voted no on the cuts.
UTP, we all have a vision for how to rebuild a better District. This is the latest in a series of issues we have faced with the District not truly collaborating with us as educators most familiar with student needs.
To meet the moment, we need agreements that will provide stability and the highest quality learning environment for our students.”
