Sierra Madre Police Department received an incident call of a vehicle crashing into the front entrance of Bean Town, a local coffee house and bakery located at 45 N. Baldwin Ave in Sierra Madre.
By News Desk
The vehicle, a Jaguar, was parked in front of the Best Buy Drugs pharmacy, three businesses downhill. Witnesses said the driver attempted to back out of the diagonal parking space. The vehicle went surprisingly rapidly up the hill. The driver appeared to lose control, made U-turn, clipping two parked cars on the way, and landed with the rear end of the Jaguar inside the business of Bean Town. The vehicle had a sidewalk table attached to its rear end. “A chair was also decimated,” according to one witness. The car came very close to hitting an employee and a customer inside the shop.
The driver of the vehicle did not sustain any injuries and has been transported to a local hospital for precautionary medical attention. No other injuries were reported at the scene.
City building officials have yellow-tagged the building, which indicates that the building is seriously damaged and is under restricted access.
The incident is currently under investigation by the Sierra Madre Police Department.
