On August 17, 2020, the Pasadena City Council voted to resume enforcement of the overnight parking ordinance, daytime street sweeping, and to create new parking programs.

Enforcement of daytime street sweeping restrictions and overnight restrictions resumed on August 18th. Warnings are being issued. Citations will resume Saturday, September 15th.
Lisa Derderian, Pasadena Public Information Officer, said in an email this morning:
We’ve delayed writing live citations for overnight parking until September 15th to allow for processing of parking permit applications.
Additionally, we are implementing a new parking permit system that will make applying for and purchasing permits a lot easier than before.
The city’s website was updated to include both overnight parking enforcement and daytime street sweeping citations.
Emergency COVID-19 overnight parking permits
Emergency COVID-19 overnight parking permits allow vehicles (not otherwise qualified per section 10.44.20 of the Pasadena Municipal Code) to park overnight. Permits will be valid for 90-day increments, and can be renewed until the end of the City’s Safer at Home order. The permit fee is $73.38 per 90-day period, and there can be only two permits per address.
Low-income fee waiver program for overnight parking permits
Individuals determined to be eligible for the low-income fee waiver program will receive a 50% discount on Annual Overnight and Temporary 90-Day Overnight permits. Individuals may qualify by meeting criteria set forth in subdivision (b) of Section 68632 of the California Government Code, which includes some individuals receiving public benefits.
Impounds and booting of vehicles
Non-critical vehicle impounds and booting, including vehicles with expired registrations, and vehicles with five or more past due parking citations, will be effective November 1st.

I went to Blick in Old Town this weekend. I could have used Amazon and avoided getting close to people, but I wanted to support a local business. I bought an 89 cent pack of charcoal sticks and returned to my car to find a 52 dollar parking ticket because the meter had expired 10 minutes earlier. Thanks Pasadena. I know it’s my bad. I also now next time, it will be Amazon.
