      Have a reluctant young reader in your life? Pasadena Public Library has an innovative, and furry, option to help.

      In the aptly named Barks & Books program, children are invited to read aloud to a gentle, well-trained therapy dog at Pasadena Public Library. The sessions are designed to strengthen reading skills while boosting kids’ confidence when reading out loud.

      An ongoing program, Barks & Books will be offered at several Pasadena Public Library locations in the coming months. Upcoming sessions listed on the Pasadena Public Libraries calendar include:

      • Tuesday, Feb. 10 | 4:00–5:00 pm
        Jefferson Branch Library, 1500 E. Villa St., Pasadena, CA 91106
      • Wednesday, Feb. 18 | 4:00–5:00 pm
        Villa Parke Community Center, 363 E. Villa St., Pasadena, CA 91101
      • Monday, Feb. 23 | 1:00–2:00 pm
