By News Desk
The work is expected to cause intermittent and extended closures along Fair Oaks Avenue, Fillmore Street, and portions of Edmondson Alley.
A full closure of Fair Oaks Avenue between Congress Street and Bellefontaine Street is scheduled to begin Saturday, May 9, at 1:00 am and continue through Monday, May 11, at 1:00 am as crews dismantle the crane over the weekend.
In addition, Fillmore Avenue has been under a full closure between Fair Oaks Avenue and Edmondson Alley since Thursday, Jan. 1, 2026, and will remain closed through Jan. 1, 2027, as part of the long-term construction project. Edmondson Alley will also undergo a western half closure south of Fillmore Avenue.
Officials said sidewalks on the west side of Fair Oaks Avenue and the north side of Fillmore Street will remain open to pedestrians. Edmondson Alley north of Fillmore Avenue will also remain open, while the portion south of Fillmore Avenue will be limited to northbound traffic only.
According to the city, all affected properties have been notified in advance, and changeable message signs will be posted in both directions to alert motorists and pedestrians of the closures.
Huntington Health will oversee the project and coordinate internally to ensure emergency services are not impacted during construction activities.
During the Fair Oaks Avenue closure, traffic will be detoured via St. John Avenue, Pasadena Avenue, Raymond Avenue, California Boulevard, Glenarm Street, and Bellefontaine Street.
For the long-term closure of Fillmore Street, detours will direct drivers to California Boulevard, Fair Oaks Avenue, Raymond Avenue, and Glenarm Street. Officials said no driveway or property access will be affected by the closure.
