The Pasadena Public Library is celebrating a major milestone as three adult learners have officially earned their high school diplomas through the Library’s Career Online High School (COHS) program.

The announcement was made by Tim McDonald, Director of Libraries and Information Services, who highlighted the program’s growth since its launch in 2023.
The graduates began their journey in 2024, first completing a prerequisite readiness course before being matched with dedicated academic coaches. These coaches provided ongoing support as students progressed through the self-paced curriculum. All three students successfully completed their coursework and earned their diplomas in 2025.
Career Online High School
As a partner of Career Online High School, the Pasadena Public Library provides scholarships to qualifying students, giving them the opportunity to earn both an accredited high school diploma and a career certificate in their chosen field.
Career certificates allow learners to gain workforce-ready skills while completing their academic requirements. Available certificate pathways include:
- Childcare and Education (CDA)
- Certified Protection Officer
- Office Management
- Commercial Driving (CDL)
- Security Professional
- Retail Customer Service
- Food and Hospitality (CPFM)
- Hospitality and Leisure
- Home Care Professional
- Introduction to Manufacturing
- General Career Preparation
The Library further supports student success by offering access to Chromebooks, mobile hotspots, in-person computers, printers, and study spaces.
