When I first started knitting, I knit ordinary, boring things like baby sweaters, Coffee cup protectors, even men’s ties in a variety of yarns. A friend of mine even knit a teddy bear.

Soon after, I stumbled down the rabbit hole into the wild, wacky world of knitted items. Some of the less odd:
Knit Boxes
Knit boxes sound really strange, but in the right colors they are a lovely, soft container. They are easily knit, the seaming (my least favorite thing about knitting) being the most time-consuming.
Jock strap

A male friend of mine knit a jock strap. Why not? It was knit in silk, so it is soft. The pattern isn’t bumpy, so it feels smooth.
Alien face-hugger

Scarves and hats are for children. A face-hugging alien will keep your face warm during those long, cold winters. It is also handy to scary trick-or-treaters on Halloween.
The wild and wacky

Finally, the truly wild, wacky – – a wig. Or a headdress. I’m not sure which. In any case, it would make a great presentation on the fashion runway or in a theatrical event musical. I can’t decide which.

It is YOUR hand-craft. Make it…use it…wear it…with pride!
P.S. I want a face-hugging alien, if anyone would like to buy me one. Hint, hint.
Is there a location that I might buy the pattern for the jockstrap. I like the scalloped effect.
If you are on Ravelry, look up Kurtis and find the pattern in his Projects. Otherwise, just do an internet search for “hand knit jock strap pattern”. That should bring a few things up.
