Temple City Students Walk Out In Protest Against ICE

Approximately 200 students from Temple City High School walked out of class on Feb. 27, 2026, to protest enforcement efforts by U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement.

The students gathered at Temple City City Hall, holding handmade signs and chanting “No hate” and “ICE out.” Demonstrators said they were concerned about the impact of federal immigration enforcement on their community.

Participants called on state and local leaders to meet several demands, including abolishing ICE and ensuring transparent, lawful enforcement policies. Students also urged officials to protect free speech rights and to divest from policing while investing more resources into community programs.

Organizers said the demonstration was part of a broader, student-led coalition spanning more than 50 K–12 schools and higher education institutions across California. The coalition has coordinated actions statewide to address concerns related to immigration enforcement and civil rights.

Students described the walkout as a peaceful effort to make their voices heard and to advocate for policy changes they believe would better support immigrant communities.
