TeenTix LA, the youth-centered arts access program connecting local teens to some of Los Angeles’ most prestigious cultural institutions, has announced a new awareness campaign aimed at expanding its reach. The organization hopes to grow its passholder base from 4,600 to 6,500 by the end of the year.

The campaign shines a spotlight on the TeenTix Pass, a free digital pass available to all youth ages 13 to 19. The pass allows teens to purchase $5 tickets to performances, exhibitions, and screenings at over 35 top arts venues in the Greater Los Angeles area. Participating institutions include Armory Center for the Arts, Center Theatre Group, Pasadena Playhouse, East West Players, The Autry Museum of the American West, Sierra Madre Playhouse, and The Soraya, among others.
To kick off the initiative, TeenTix LA is hosting two special events in August and September open to all teens, with advance reservations.
The first event is a live jazz concert featuring Street Symphony’s acclaimed ensemble, known for their fusion of West Coast cool jazz, soul, and pop. The event takes place Sunday, August 31 at 3:00 pm at Sierra Madre Playhouse and includes a pre-concert mixer and post-show artist talk-back. Tickets are $5 with the code TTLANIGHT at sierramadreplayhouse.org.
A week later, on Saturday, September 6 at 11:00 am, TeenTix LA hosts a free visual arts event at Pasadena’s Armory Center for the Arts. The program features a private artist-led tour, a teen-specific collage workshop, and lunch. Reservations are required and available at la.teentix.org.
“These events offer Southland youths a great way to experience what TeenTix LA is all about,” said Program Director Allison Whorton. “We welcome everyone! There are no requirements to participate other than age.”
Founded four years ago as an expansion of Seattle’s long-running TeenTix initiative, the LA program has already attracted teens from over 500 zip codes and facilitated more than 2,500 low-cost arts visits. Companion tickets are also available, making it easy for teens to bring friends or family along.
Whorton emphasized that TeenTix LA’s mission goes beyond affordability. “We want to help teens feel ownership of their cultural experiences and give them tools to explore the arts on their own terms.”
Many current passholders say the program has had a powerful impact.
“TeenTix LA has single-handedly gifted young Angelenos like me the ability to access arts and entertainment for less than the price of a Double-Double,” said 17-year-old Callie Pyken. “It’s an invaluable resource.”
“TeenTix LA sincerely aims to uplift teenagers and enable their participation in the arts,” added Emily Tieng, 19. “It empowers me to share my love for the arts with others.”
For 16-year-old Hannah Gumpert, the program is as much about community as it is about access. “TeenTix LA has been a space where I can access arts events all around Los Angeles, as well as connect with other teens. It’s such an amazing program.”
