– Craigslist’s and Reddit personals cease to exist
Craigslist and Reddit personals became a casualty of the new legislation, the Fight Online Sex Traffickers Act (FOSTA,) that was passed by the Senate this week. (Read More).
– Dropbox shares soar in biggest tech IPO since Snapchat
Cloud storage company Dropbox stunned wall street with a 36% surge in share price after its debut on Wall Street. Dropbox started 10 years ago inside the incubator Y Combinator in San Francisco but is now valued at around $10 billion after a day of trading under the ticker symbol “DBX.” The successful opening means that Dropbox is the biggest tech IPO since Snapchat in March of 2017. – Facebook’s Zuckerberg to testify
CNN reported that Mark Zuckerberg, CEO of Facebook, will testify before Congress within a matter of weeks. (Read More).
– Elon Musk lands a new compensation plan
Tesla shareholders have approved a $2.6 billion dollar compensation package for Tesla CEO Elon Musk. This part of a set of 12 checkpoints where Musk’s options vest and could make him $56 billion dollars if he completes them all. (Read More).
– Google joins the fight against Fake News
Google announced $300 million investment over the next three years into its new Google News Initiative (GNI)to combat the rise of fake news. The initiative is committed to stopping fake news links, and providing tools for publishers of real news to grow and disseminate information to users. (Read More).
– Apple to develop screens to cut suppliers out of the equation
300 Apple engineers are working to develop end-to-end MicroLED screen design. This positions Apple to sever ties with major screen suppliers like Samsung and putting them well in advance of competitors in one of the industry’s most compelling new technologies. (Read More).
