Grindr has come under fire for sharing information about users’ HIV status or locations with two companies enlisted to optimize its software (Read More).

– Galaxy S6 and S6 Edge off life support

After three years, the Galaxy S6 and its curved sibling will no longer receive major OS updates or monthly security patches. (Read More).

– Panera Bread’s customer records exposed on the web

Add another big-name brand to the list of those who’ve left customer data exposed online. Panera Bread left millions of customer sign-up records (possibly 37 million) in plain text on its website, including email addresses, home addresses, phone numbers and loyalty account numbers. (Read More).

– Trump attacks Amazon on Twitter

The President aimed another Twitter tirade at Amazon, suggesting USPS loses $1.50 on each Amazon shipment. He argued that the postal service is losing billions of dollars each year on $70 billion in revenue. Our take? The USPS contract with Amazon is profitable–a 2006 law requires it. However, USPS could be charging about $1.46 more based on an analysis by Citigroup but likely won’t. (Read More).

– Tesla’s autopilot under scrutiny

The National Transportation Safety Board is currently investigating a fatal accident involving Tesla’s Model X that struck a highway divider and killed the passenger. The Autopilot system was engaged, bringing questions about Tesla’s “driver-assistance” program. (Read More).

Tech stocks had a tough week, and analysts believe we may be headed for a correction. Presidential pressure, embarrassing leaks, tragic accidents, and trade wars seem to be weighing heavily on the sector. (Read More).

– Bleacher Report releases Sports Streaming Service

Bleacher Report detailed a direct-to-consumer sports service called B/R Live. Likely sensing weakness in ESPN’s dominance of sports viewership, Bleacher Report is using a combination of subscriptions and micro-transactions to make everything from arm-wrestling to the PGA available to consumers.
