A Pasadena police officer was injured during an arrest attempt Thursday night, September 10, after a suspect wanted in connection with an assault-with-a-deadly-weapon investigation backed his vehicle into two police vehicles, authorities said.

The incident occurred at approximately 9:06 pm in a parking lot in the 200 block of Oakland Avenue. During the attempt to stop the vehicle, an officer-involved shooting occurred. No officers, suspects, or members of the public were struck by gunfire.

The suspect remained inside the vehicle and refused officers’ commands to exit. After continued efforts to gain his compliance, a Pasadena police K-9 was deployed, and the suspect was taken into custody.

The injured officer was transported to a hospital for treatment and later released.

The suspect was identified as 32-year-old Keith Trevon Anderson of Pasadena. He was transported to a hospital for medical treatment before being booked on suspicion of assault with a deadly weapon on a peace officer, in violation of California Penal Code section 245(c).

A passenger in Anderson’s vehicle was also taken to a hospital, where he was treated for minor abrasions and released. The passenger was subsequently arrested on an outstanding, unrelated warrant for assault with a deadly weapon.

A loaded handgun was recovered from the vehicle.

The Pasadena Police Department’s Robbery-Homicide Unit, Critical Performance Unit, and Internal Affairs Section responded to the scene. The incident remains under active investigation, and additional information will be released as it becomes available.
