Los Angeles County Supervisor Kathryn Barger will join constituents and community leaders this weekend to celebrate the Lunar New Year and welcome the Year of the Horse, a zodiac year symbolizing strength, momentum, and forward progress.

Supervisor Barger will first attend the San Marino Lunar New Year Festival on February 7 at 10:00 am at Lacy Park in San Marino. The event is presented by The Chinese Club of San Marino in partnership with the Rotary Club of San Marino and the San Marino Unified School District. Festivities will include cultural performances, food, exhibitions, and games for families and residents of all ages.
Later that day, Supervisor Barger will attend the Temple City Lunar New Year Celebration at 12:00 pm at Temple City Park. The event is hosted by the Temple City Chinese American Association and the Temple City City Council and will feature cultural pageantry, family-friendly activities, informational booths, live entertainment, and traditional cuisine. During the celebration, Supervisor Barger will address attendees and present certificates of recognition to the event hosts in appreciation of their leadership and community contributions.
“The Year of the Horse represents determination and the courage to keep moving forward,” said Supervisor Kathryn Barger. “I plan to channel that energy as I continue advocating and lobbying for the needs of my constituents. My focus remains on protecting quality of life in Los Angeles County, keeping the communities I represent safe, and supporting Altadena’s recovery. Celebrating the Lunar New Year with our communities is a powerful reminder that progress is strongest when we move forward together.”
Both celebrations highlight the cultural richness of the Fifth District and provide opportunities to bring residents together while fostering greater harmony among the region’s diverse communities.
