Summer activities for PUSD students (Photo – PUSD)
This summer, students across Pasadena Unified School District expanded their skills, explored future careers, and developed leadership through hands-on learning experiences.

Students from John Muir High School’s Sports Management Academy received full scholarships to attend the Sports Industry Academy at UC Santa Barbara. There, they explored careers in sports management, marketing, analytics, coaching, and related fields while learning alongside students from across the country. The partnership between PUSD and the Sports Industry Academy provides valuable real-world experiences and helps prepare students for future careers in the sports industry.
Meanwhile, middle school students participated in Team PUSD, where they strengthened their athletic skills while working with PUSD high school coaches and student-athlete mentors. The program also gave high school students meaningful leadership experience through volunteer and paid coaching opportunities.
Many of those high school mentors will continue supporting younger students throughout the school year through LEARNs and future Team PUSD programs, creating a lasting pipeline of mentorship, leadership, and opportunity.
Like PUSD’s other summer learning initiatives, Team PUSD shows how meaningful experiences today help students build the confidence, skills, and connections they need to succeed in school, college, and future careers.
